Officials Vow New York City Marathon Will Go OnPublished by
City and State Officials and Race Organizers Vow the TCS New York City Marathon Will Be Run on SundayBy Adam Kopet In the wake of the Lower Manhattan terrorist attack that left eight people dead Tuesday, New York City officials and TCS New York City Marathon organizers have said the race will go on, according to David Wharton of the Los Angeles Times. The race is scheduled for Sunday. Additional security and police presence will be part of the added safety personnel for the event. In addition to the elite fields competing, there are expected to be 50,000 participants and 2.5 million spectators along the five boroughs course. The New York City Marathon has been held every year since 1970, with the exception of 2012, when the city was recovering from Hurricane Sandy. More news |
