Kiplagat Has More to Prove in New York Marathon Question

World Marathon Champion Edna Kiplagat of Kenya will still have enough inspiration to win in New York on Nov. 2, despite missing out on the share of the 500,000 U. S. dollars World Marathon Majors (WMM) jackpot.

"It was part of my strategy to go to New York and battle for the WMM. But my friend Rita has already wrapped it up. That will, however, not discourage me."

"I still want to excel and maybe improve my time in New York. The course is tough and the competition stiffer, but am not a weakling and will take my battle to them and see how fast we can go. I want to win in New York," she said on Monday in Eldoret."

In New York, she will team up with Keitany for the 42km distance. Others will be Deba from Ethiopia Firehiwot Dado of Ethiopia (winner in 2011) and Jelena Prokopcuka of Latvia.
